Gallery Stoves From Capital Fireplaces
All our cleanburn stoves are made of cast iron or steel and are constructed for durability and maximum heat and retain heat long after the fire has diminished. They are designed with large glass windows so that that all the flames are visible and are equipped with air wash systems to keep the glass clean. Wood is a better fuel for a stove from a environmental aspect. The amount of carbon dioxide released into the air through burning is approximately the same as the tree absorbed during its growth which results in the term Carbon Neutral. Wood is also a renewable source as most is now supplied from managed woodlands. They are manufactured from cast iron, therefore it is vital that appliances undergo a period of burning in, this envoles small fires initially, gradually increasing in size with each firing, if this process is adhered to you should experience years of trouble free, enjoyable use.
Important Stove Information
* Ensure the chimney is of the correct size and height for the stove.
* Always read user instructions prior to initially using the stove.
* Only burn “seasoned” wood that has been stored in the dry for a minimum of two years and has a moisture content below 20%. This will give you up to twice the heat output of freshly felled timber and greatly reduces tar build up in the flue.
* Do not overload the stove.
* Avoid burning household rubbish as this can give off harmful gasses and will reduce the stoves performance.
* Make sure that the stove meets the relevant emissions for the district in which it is to be used.
* Please note the fitting of a CO (Carbon Monoxide) alarm is now a building regulations requirement for a stove installation, we stock these as standard and can be added to your order by clicking the add the carbon monoxide detector on the screen.
Before Purchasing Your Stove
All Gallery stoves are supplied with detailed comprehensive installation and user instructions. It is critical that all installations conform to relevant Building Regualtions and should be carried out by a qualified Gas Safe Registered installer or a HETAS qualified engineer. Failure to comply with these requirements may reduce the efficiency and serviceability of your appliance and invalidate any guarantee. It is essential that proir to any installation, a relevant engineer verifies the proposed site, location and conditions are suitable for the stove selected.
What Are Defra Approved Stoves?
To burn fuel in a smoke controlled area the law determines that either the fuel should be smokeless or the appliance should be approved by Defra (The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) normally these appliances are approved by Defra for burning kiln dried wood. Some of our Defra approved products are capable of burning both kiln dried wood and anthracite in smoke control areas, a dual fuel use most cleanburn products cannot offer.

They can be rear or top flued, feature a controlable airwash system and have been tested and approved to to European Standard EN13240 and come with a 1 year manufacturers warranty.
Firefox Clean Burn Stoves
The Firefox clean burn and classic stoves have been approved by DEFRA for wood burning in smokeless zones, available in heat outputs from 4.9kw to 8.4kw. This range of clean burn stoves are a traditional range of stoves designed for homes with a class 1 chimney and can be top or rear flued. These stoves also feature a controlable airwash system and have been tested and approved to to European Standard EN13240 and come with a 1 year manufacturers warranty.
What Is The Airwash System On The Stove?
A stove with an airwash system will tend to have a cleaner more see through window. In non airwash stoves tar is deposited on the window when fuel is burnt (especially wood) darkening the stove glass or making it black. Airwash stoves take in air from above the stove window and pass or 'wash' it over the surface of the window. This helps keeps the flames and gasses in the stove off the window itself as there is a layer of air protecting it, therefore less tar is deposited keeping the window cleaner.
