Kooga Woodburning Stove

To burn fuel in a smoke controlled area the law determines that either the fuel should be smokeless or the appliance should be approved by Defra (The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) normally these appliances are approved by Defra for burning kiln dried wood. When using your solid fuel stove, it is vital that all appliances undergo a period of burning in. This involves building small fires initially and gradually increasing the size with each firing. This will ensure that your cast iron stove anneals and will not crack with the thermal shock experienced when first used. If this process is adhered to, you should experience years of trouble free, enjoyable use.

It is essential that you use the correct fuel for your appliance as detailed in the stove sections of this brochure. Gallery multi fuel stoves, in use, become extremely hot and are designed for installation into masonry fireplaces, at least 250mm from combustible materials and fully sealed to a class1 chimney at least 5m high.

Please ensure that all ash is removed from your multi fuel stove (once cooled) on a regular basis and a build up beneath the grate is not allowed to occur. If this is not adhered to, the life of the burning chamber and its components will be reduced. All chimneys must be swept on an annual basis and flueways through the stove kept clear at all times. The baffle plates within the multi fuel stoves are simply removed to facilitate easy access to the chimney.

All gallery stoves are supplied with detailed, comprehensive installation user instructions. It is critical that ALL installations conform to relevant Building Regulations and should be carried out by a qualified CORGI registered installer when fitting a gas stove, or a HETAS qualified engineer when installing a multi fuel stove. Failure to comply with these requirements may reduce the efficiency serviceability of your appliance and will invalidate any guarantees. It is essential that prior to any installation, a relevant qualified engineer verifies that the proposed site, location and conditions are suitable for the stove selected. In the unlikely event that there are any service issues with your Gallery gas stove, there is the additional support from a team of field service engineers. Gallery gas stoves carry a 12 month manufacturers warranty, this covers manufacturers defects but not issues that are installation related.
