Part L

Part L of the Building Regulations was revised in October 2010 as part of the government’s ongoing commitment strategy to reduce carbon emissions. This change requires a 25 percent improvement in a building’s carbon emissions over the 2006 level. However, there is a transitional provision that allows building work to be completed after this date to the 2006 edition of Part L.

if you do have a project that requires you to build to the October 2010 level then please use the contact our heating design team on 0845 601 5111 to discuss your requirements.

More information on Building Regulations Part L 2010 and how it affects electric heating will be included on this site in due course.

NOBO'S low surface temperature heaters for safety-critical environments

Nursing homes, hospitals, nurseries and schools are amongst a number of environments where safety is paramount, due to the often vulnerable members of the community that occupy them.

NOBO heating with SNH leads the field in providing comprehensive and appropriate heating solutions for these safety-critical interiors.

Widely recognised for its low surface temperature (LST) heater concept, NOBO's Series 8 range of LST heaters has been designed to ensure an even and safe temperature for those most vulnerable to scalding and skin burns, the elderly and young. Very important when deciding on the correct heater for your school, hospital or Nursery

Meeting the NHS Estates Health Guidance Notes on ‘Safe Hot Water and Surface Temperatures', the LST heaters have been developed not to exceed 43ºC, the maximum surface temperature recommended in the guidelines.

Available in outputs of 500 Watt, 800 Watt and 1000 Watt, NOBO's LST heaters incorporate safety cut-out, silent electronic thermostats and importantly create no hot spots, which can be a major weakness of other systems.

While safety critical, the convector heaters are also stylish, enabling the heating specification of a room to be integrated seamlessly as part of the interior scheme.

The LST heaters use the proven Series 8 electronic plug-in proportional thermostats with temperature scales, designed to achieve optimum warmth and comfort with maximum safety. Typically the range will be 5ºC to 24ºC and where control is required the NOBO Orion 700 wireless RF controller or the cable remote control GCH System can be used for the management of economy and safety levels.

Martin Shepherd, Creda NOBO's Sales Director, said: "Placing great emphasis on delivering safe products, our LST heaters are perfectly suited for the requirements of all safety-conscious interiors.

"Ideal for nursing homes and doctors' surgeries, the convector heaters are also suitable for public buildings, such as local community or church halls, that may be used by certain sectors of the community most at risk if the surface temperature of a heater exceeds 43ºC.

"Requiring only minimal maintenance, the stylish design of our LST heaters, ensures safe heating solutions are provided while not detracting from the well-being factor we expect our nurseries and residential units to promote."

Series 14 heaters for styling plus performance

Scandinavian styling and impressive performance on all counts on these electrical heaters are the reasons why the Series 14 (E4EU) electric panel heaters are among the most popular products in the Creda NOBO range of electric heating products, thats a fact!

The 100 per cent efficient E4EU heaters come in six output ratings from 500W to 2,000W, which means that they are suitable for use in a wide range of residential and commercial settings. Simple yet elegant in appearance, they are clearly manufactured to a high standard; and are finished in white to the RAL 9010 specification.

All E4EU heaters benefit from sophisticated controls, starting with an easy to read temperature controller operating over the range 5oC - 30oC, complete with a tamperproof cover. A silent electronic thermostat gives users precise control over the warmth of their surroundings, so that it is easy to use energy economically without any reduction in comfort.

The digital timer is fully programmable over seven days and 24 hours, with auto on, auto off and manual modes. A programme override is also included for total flexibility.  In the event of a power failure, an internal rechargeable NI-cad battery provides 150 hours of memory back-up, preserving the heater settings until power is restored.

Safety features include rounded corner profiles, an overheat safety cut-out and splash-proof construction classified to IP24.

Martin Shepherd, Creda NOBO's Sales Director, said: "The E4EU Series 14 heaters have been incorporated into the Creda NOBO range to complement our existing products. We are confident that they will be highly popular with developers as new equipment, and with facilities managers needing to replace less efficient or worn out heaters.

"With their focus on design and heat control solutions, coupled with production quality, Creda NOBO products will help us continue to meet the needs of some of the most demanding environments across commercial and residential property development, and the public sector."

Domestic Heating Systems – Energy Saving Features

Nobo Heating encourages the responsible use of energy in the face of high fuel costs, the issue of climate change and dwindling fossil fuel supplies. We incorporate energy saving technologies, materials and features into all of our products.

Eco Response radiators – use an economical mixture of direct and off-peak heat sources for a comfortable room temperature day and night. The amount of heat that’s drawn from each source is adjusted automatically.

Panel heaters - energy saving features in Nobo Heating’s products, include:

Accurate thermostats to ensure the room temperature doesn’t fluctuate, preventing the over and under-heating that increases energy usage.

Half-heat switches so you can reduce the wattage if the output of the heater exceeds your requirement.

24 hour timers, which mean you can plan your heating arrangements in advance by ensuring that the heater switches on and off to suit your lifestyle.

Run-back timers that automatically switch off the heater after a set period of time.

Advanced controls
Nobo Heating supplies a wide selection of optional controls to further improve the efficiency of our products. These come as plug-in modules, central programmers or individual heater controls. More information can be found under each of our individual products.

Domestic Heating Systems – Safety

Safety is of paramount importance for specifiers, social housing providers, homeowners and tenants. It must be considered carefully when selecting or upgrading a heating system, and Creda Heating is well qualified to assist.

Nobo electric heating products have important safety benefits over other fuels:

Electric heaters do not burn fuel internally to generate heat, removing risks such as carbon monoxide poisoning and explosions.

Both Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) and private landlords are legally required to have gas appliances in their properties checked annually to confirm they are working safely. Making these inspections can be problematic if tenants are reluctant to let a qualified maintenance engineer into their homes. It is also necessary to budget for the cost of inspection and servicing.

Nobo heaters and panels do not contain fluids, removing the potential for leaks and bursts associated with a wet system. Both landlords and tenants benefit as there is less risk of damage to the building and personal property, and the inconvenience associated with repairs is avoided.

Nobo electric heating products are extremely reliable and will normally run satisfactorily for much longer than a conventional wet system.
