Dimplex Optimist
See the effect, you wont beleive it!
Opti-myst is a revolution in electric fire technology.
Using unique state-of-the-art technology, we have created the most realistic flame and smoke effect ever seen in an electric fire – an illusion so effective that we believe it is difficult to distinguish it from the real thing.
The fully 3-dimensional effect uses established ultrasonic technology adapted from commercial applications to create an ultra fine water mist that is illuminated to create the ‘flames’ and the ‘smoke’. This, combined with the Optiglo® glowing logs and shimmering ashbed, produces an effect that surpasses all expectations for realism in an electric fire.
This amazing effect is currently available in the fires:
The Chesford inset fire with titanium effect finish
The Cavendish inset fire with brass effect finish
The Cadogan traditionally styled stove
The Cassington contemporary styled stove
The Piermont traditionally styled stove
The Brookline inset fire with black finish
The Charlotte inset fire with brass or antique brass effect finish
The Delaware contemporary styled stove
Dimplex electric fires have many energy saving benefits which not only save money but will help reduce your carbon emissions as well.
All Dimplex electric fires are 100% efficient at point of use, so no heat is wasted.
On Optiflame® and Opti-myst® fires, the ‘flames’ can also be used independently of the heating, so you can enjoy the cosiness of the flames on those dark but mild spring and autumn evenings, or when the central heating is on, without overheating and only costing the same as a few light bulbs.
Many Dimplex fires also feature a room-sensing thermostat, which constantly measures the ambient temperature of the room, allowing you to set a room temperature for the fire to maintain. This not only means that your room will be kept at an optimum temperature with minimum effort, but also means that no unnecessary heat is produced – saving you money!
For enhanced energy saving features, our canopy free fires - the X1, Exbury and Loxley - feature one fan to power both the heater and the flame effect plus a highly accurate electronic thermostat eliminating inefficient and uncomfortable 'room temperature swing' associated with some conventional thermostats.
For further efficiency, the LE range of fires and suites feature LED bulbs to further reduce running costs over conventional and even compact fluorescent [CFL] bulbs. The total consumption using the LEDs in flame effect only mode is between 14 and 18 watts per hour, depending on model, equating to an annual cost of around £2 per annum. The expected life of our LED bulbs is also 100,000 hours or almost 55 years
Average 2008 rates p/kWh, assuming 5 hours/7 days per week usage.
New Dimplex Opti-,yst breaks records
(F080904) aticle fri 7th Nov 2008
The double award-winning new Opti-myst flame effect electric fire range from Dimplex, with its revolutionary flame and swirling smoke effect, is already breaking industry records.
Chris Stammers, Dimplex fires marketing manager, says: “We’ve been bowled over by the response to the new Opti-myst flame effect fires which have drawn gasps from everyone who sees the astonishingly realistic flame and smoke effect. And we’ve had a record number of orders for these fires which scooped two major industry awards within just a day of being launched.”
Innovative new technology in the Opti-myst fires brings unrivalled realism to electric fires creating, for the first time, flickering flames with a random, swirling smoke effect. The effect is created by a deceptively simple, worldwide patented, system that illuminates finely atomised water droplets which rise with the convection stream created by the light bulbs. The filtered water is stored in an easy refill, concealed water tank and the full effect can be seen across a 180° viewing angle.
The flame effect and smoke intensity is fully variable so customers can choose from gently smouldering embers right up to a roaring fire. The glowing logs and shimmering ash bed are lit by long life LED lamps.
The Opti-myst effect is currently available in four new fires: two freestanding stoves – the traditional style Cadogan and the contemporary Cassington; and two inset models – the brass effect finish Cavendish and the titanium effect Chesford. The Opti-myst flame effect won not only the Appliance of the Year award at the Hearth & Home show but went on to scoop the top prize Product of the Year as well.
The new Opti-myst effect can be lit with the flame and smoke effect only, and heat is available via a concealed fan heater that delivers 1kW or 2kW of thermostatically controlled warmth. The fires have silent operation, are virtually maintenance free and come with a remote control for ease of operation.
Double Win For Dimplex Revolutionary New Fires Opti-myst
(F080702) article Thursday 31 Jul 2008
Southampton-based Dimplex has won two top industry awards for its latest generation of electric fires. The Opti-mystTM, range featuring revolutionary new technology that brings unrivalled realism to electric fires with flickering flames and swirling smoke effect.
Dimplex, which has been a global leader in electric heating for nearly 60 years, employs 150 people and has its head office in Hedge End. The company scooped the award for Appliance of the Year for its Cavendish fire at the industry-leading Hearth and Home Show. It was then up against other category award winners for the top prize Product of the Year award, which it also won.
The new Opti-myst fires were launched to wide acclaim at the show and the awards were judged by a panel of top well-respected industry experts, all members of the National Fireplace Association. Criteria for the Appliance award, which Dimplex won by a ‘significant margin’, included general design, construction, installation and maintenance features and consumer benefits including value for money.
At the awards ceremony the judges specifically pointed out that the Opti-myst was “a remarkable step forward in electric fuel effect”. Erica Royle, marketing and PR manager, Heath and Home Show, says: “Dimplex took the industry by storm 20 years ago when it launched the Optiflame electric fire effect; if the reaction of the judges to the Opti-myst is anything to go by, the realistic dancing flames and wisps of smoke on these electric fires will be another winner.”
The Opti-myst has a fully variable flame and smoke intensity controller with ‘glowing’ logs and a ‘shimmering’ ash bed lit by long life dichroic Xenon bulbs.
The random smoke and flame effect is created by a deceptively simple, but worldwide patented, system that illuminates atomised water stored in an easy refill, concealed water tank. The full effect can be seen across a 180 degree viewing angle.
Opti-myst is being introduced in four new fires, each with a handy remote control. There are two new freestanding stoves, the traditional style Cadogan and the contemporary Cassington, both of which stand 710mm high. The inset models also offer a choice of classic or contemporary styles – the brass finish Cavendish and the chrome effect Chesford. Available Autumn 2008.
